D.K. Harrell (Ruston, Louisiana, 1998) is, in the opinion of many American critics, the new young “phenomenon” of American blues. Dedicated to the preservation of the traditional style, the 26-year-old singer and guitarist offers a new and attractive perspective on the classic side of the genre. It is impossible not to perceive in him the stylistic heritage of the master B.B. King, both guitaristically and vocally, which shows that the new generations also “have the blues”. In 2019 he performed at the B.B. King symposium and had the honour of playing one of his iconic guitars, Lucille. He placed third in the 2022 International Blues Challenge and that same year received the King of the Blues B.B. King Award from the Jus’ Blues Music Foundation. “The Right Man” is his brilliant debut album, released in June 2023 on the Little Village Foundation label.
D.K. Harrell has shared the stage with renowned artists such as Gary Clark Jr., Mr. Sipp, Tedeschi-Trucks band and Christone “Kingfish” Ingram. At the Bilbao Blues Festival, in his only performance in Spain, as well as being the first time he visits the country, D.K. Harrell will display his refined technique and enormous personality on stage to demonstrate why he is on his way to becoming one of the most splendid and resounding figures on the blues scene.
