The poster for the fourth edition of the Bilbao Blues Festival highlights the link between this great musical event and the essence of the capital of Bizkaia through one of its most emblematic bridges: La Salve. The illustration is the work of the Basque studio Moriskette, directed by Sergio Pérez Berasategi, who has signed the image of the event since its first edition.
‘We wanted to capture the travelling spirit of the blues and its connection to Bilbao. We were inspired by the figure of a wandering bluesman, a wanderer with guitar in hand as his only luggage, carrying stories and melodies with him. His steady step next to La Salve Bridge symbolises the entrance to the heart of the city, a place of welcome and encounter that reflects the open essence of the festival and of Bilbao itself,’ explains Berasategi. Inspired by the classic concept of the genre, ‘Walking Blues’, ‘we wanted the poster to reflect not only the tradition of the genre, but also the unique character of the city’, he adds.

This design, faithful to the graphic line of other editions, ‘seeks to resonate both with blues lovers and with those who see Bilbao as a city that, like the festival, never stops moving forward and telling new stories. Because this year, the blues is not only passing through Bilbao: it is walking straight into its heart’, stresses Berasategui.
