It is a privilege to confirm the great Shemekia Copeland, who will arrive in Bilbao ready to turn the Arenal stage upside down on Sunday 31 July. From a very young age, Shemekia was already a force to be reckoned with in the blues. She soon began to carve out a niche for herself and even topped the bill at major festivals such as the Chicago Blues Festival and the B. B. King Blues Festival. She has also shared the stage with legends such as Buddy Guy, BB King, Mick Jagger and Eric Clapton, and has even performed at the White House for President Obama and his wife, Michelle. Heiress to the blues tradition (she is the daughter of Johnny Copeland), her career has always been influenced by divas such as Ruth Brown, Etta James and Koko Taylor.
