The grand finale of the 3rd Volotea Blues Challenge brought together four outstanding blues bands from different parts of Spain. Following their live performances, a panel of experts awarded first prize to the Chino Swingslide Quartet, which will represent Spain at the 2027 European Blues Challenge.
The Chino Swingslide Quartet is the evolution of Hernán Senra’s project, one of the leading figures in the Barcelona blues scene. With a lineup that combines slide guitar, double bass, drums, and harmonica, the group performs electric blues based on original compositions, rooted in tradition yet with a contemporary flair. Following an extensive international career and the recognition they earned at the 2013 European Blues Challenge, the group stands out for the quality of their live performances and their intense yet elegant style.
The other three finalist bands—Cookin’ Raw Blues, Danny Boy Blues Band, and The Ubangi Stomp—rounded out a final round marked by a high artistic standard and the diversity of styles within the national blues scene.
