Texan singer, saxophonist (and guitarist) and songwriter Vanessa Collier is one of the biggest sensations on the world blues scene today. Her unmistakable style combined with a sensual voice and immense talent on the saxophone has won over audiences and most critics. The spectacular nature of his live performances rounds off his attractive approach.
After graduating from Berklee College of Music as a performer, sound engineer and music producer, she joined blues legend Joe Louis Walker’s band until she decided to start a solo career. Despite her youth, she has already released six albums, the latest of which, ‘Do It My Own Way’, draws from blues, rock, rhythm & blues and Memphis Soul.
By her own admission, her main musical influences include Aretha Franklin, Bonnie Raitt, James Brown, Cannonball Adderley, Maceo Parker, Stevie Wonder, Professor Longhair and Joe Louis Walker, among others. In her still short musical career she has accumulated a wealth of accolades, including four Blues Music Awards 2024 with 12 nominations, including Contemporary Blues Female Artist of the Year, Brass Performer of the Year and B.B. King Artist of the Year.
She also holds two Blues Blast Awards (2022 and 2023) for Brass Performer of the Year, a nomination for the Legendary Rhythm & Blues Cruise’s Jammingest Pro Award and was named Best Blues Breaker Artist 2014 on Dan Aykroyd’s BluesMobile.
