Family heritage with blues and soul soul. Masters of blues & soul.

Blackburn Brothers is a multi-award winning Canadian band that combines a blues base with funk, jazz and soul rhythms to create a distinctive and uplifting sound influenced by legends such as BB King, Ray Charles, Eddie Harris, Miles Davis, James Brown and Stevie Wonder.

This fourth generation family band, descendants of Elias Earls, who escaped from slavery and settled in southern Ontario, is made up of the three brothers Duane (vocals/keyboards), Brooke (guitar/vocals) and Cory (drums) along with Neil Braithwaite (tenor sax), Ted Peters (trombone) and Andrew Stewart (bass). They acknowledge that their great inspiration is their father, legendary rock and roll and R&B artist Bobby Dean Blackburn, whose legacy in the Toronto music scene stretches back more than six decades.

The Blackburn Brothers have shared the stage with such genre stars as Mavis Staples, Dr. John and The Nite Trippers, Christone ‘Kingfish’ Ingram, Cedric Burnside and Canadian artists such as Sarah McLachlan, Colin James and The Bros, displaying versatility and appeal across genres and audiences.

Their latest album, SoulFunkn’BLUES (September 2023), has received international acclaim and a 2024 JUNO Award nomination in the blues album category, three 2024 American Blues Music Awards nominations (Best Blues Album, Best Soul Album and Song of the Year) and a record nine 2024 Maple Blues Awards nominations. The work won the Blues Blast Awards 2024 for Blues Soul Album of the Year. In 2023, the Blackburn Brothers were inducted into the Canada South Blues Society Hall of Fame.
