Chambers (Houston, 1985) grew up singing in a church, hence her strong gospel influences. She spent seven years enlisted in the US armed forces, where her talent did not go unnoticed and she was invited to sing the national anthem during a ceremony. That episode led to her joining a band that performed on tour for military troops stationed in Kosovo and Iraq. In 2019 and 2022 she won the Blues Music Award in the category of Best Female Soul Blues Artist. A highly skilled improviser, the Oakland-based performer and songwriter displays a wide variety of expressive tools and resources. Odabi was nominated in 2017, 2020, 2021, 2022 at the Blues Music Awards in the category of &#8220;Best female soul blues artist&#8221;.
