The first of them, current member of Anson Funderburgh &amp; The Rockets, has been on stage since he was 15 years old and among his greatest influences are Freddie King and B.B. King.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Characterized by his electric blues, Morgan has released 14 albums, mostly as leader of the band The Crawl. Singer-songwriter and guitarist Shawn Pittman, for his part, has a prolific career, and has worked with artists such as Matt &#8216;Guitar&#8217; Murphy, Hubert Sumlin and Lou Ann Barton.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The second confirmed band is Marta High &amp; The Soul Cookers.<\/strong> Her &#8216;front woman&#8217; <strong>shared the stage for 30 years with the legendary James Brown, which made her his oldest female vocalist<\/strong>. Currently, in addition to his band, he tours the world as lead singer of <strong>Maceo Parker&#8217;s<\/strong> band, also known for having played with Brown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For the <strong>Councilor for Economic Development, Commerce, Tourism and Employment of the Bilbao City Council, Xabier Ochandiano<\/strong>, \u201c<em>after the resounding success of the two previous editions, it is a huge satisfaction to once again host this great quality cultural event, which is already a benchmark international. The artists who have visited us leave impressed by both the city and the treatment received and become our best ambassadors<\/em>&#8220;, emphasizes <strong>Carlos Malles, director of the event<\/strong>, who celebrates that the volume of the public, both local and abroad of Euskadi, grows edition after edition, attracted by the extraordinary musical proposal of the contest, as well as by the \u201c<strong>incredible atmosphere<\/strong>\u201d that is generated during those days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As for programming, this year&#8217;s proposal will follow its usual \u201ceclectic\u201d line. \u201c<strong><em>We want the public to be able to discover different types of blues, as well as other related styles of music<\/em><\/strong>\u201d, Malles emphasizes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><u>MISSISSIPPI BILBA\u00cdNO<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The image on the <em>Bilbao Blues Festival 2024<\/em> poster is a <strong>wheeled steamboat, in the purest Mississippi style, that plies the estuary near El Arenal<\/strong>, where most of the Festival takes place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The illustration is the work of the Basque studio Moriskette, directed for almost 25 years by Sergio P\u00e9rez Berasategi, who also signed the images of 2022 (starring a bluesman and another Bilbao icon: its characteristic tiles) and 2023 (homage to female voices and with a nod to the sweet Carolinas). \u201c<em>The festival has already been consolidated and is an unmissable event for the public that loves this genre, which is also very specialized<\/em>\u201d, says P\u00e9rez Berasategi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c<em><strong>We wanted to find an element that would automatically link the Blues with the city<\/strong>. Without a doubt, Nervi\u00f3n is the &#8220;Mississippi&#8221; of Bilbao and we think that this can unequivocally evoke such an important style of the genre as Delta Blues, original from this North American region<\/em>\u201d, he explains. &#8220;<em>We believe that, with an illustration style similar to that of previous years and a graphic consistent with the theme, people who love Blues will quickly feel identified while we make the usual nod to Bilbao and its inhabitants<\/em>&#8220;, says the person in charge. of the study.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><u>TENS OF THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE VIBRATED IN THE ARENAL<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Last year, the festival brought together tens of thousands of people from different parts of the Basque Country, but also from other parts of the world such as Switzerland, Germany, Canada and the United States in an exceptional atmosphere.
